This is a site for girly girls (kind of social networking) that I would be totally into if I was 12, and anything like a girl. For those interested, you can create your own comics, fashion shows, hairstyles and all that kind of girly crap. Would use it to create some art but... the site is making me feel sick.



Oh I forgot to mention that I have a new phone, Nokia N97.

So hot. It is absolutely convergent technology, has email, internet, adobe, office, mp3, massive amounts of memory and a whole heap of other crap that I will probably never use.

OH in further news, totally got a ticket to the Big Day Out next year. Highlights will be (granted the timetable is kind to me) Muse, Kasabian, Lily, Calvin, Dizzie, Bluejuice, Mars Volta, Temper Trap, Kisschasy, The Horrors. Don't think I'm gonna get away with everyone, but I'll give it a right go.

Fingers crossed for Gossip in the second announcement.

I love your friends, they're all so arty oh yeah

Art? Really? I am sooooo far from an artist. I can write stories and what not but I have no hope in hell of drawing anything, online or off. Conundrum!

He is the co creator of Gorillaz (as you can see behind him) as well as tank girl. Him and Gorillaz pal Damon Albarn also did the stage production of Monkey. My friend brought back from overseas a box set type thing with the booklet from the show, the vinyl soundtrack (with amazing pictures) and this beautiful original picture (which I had framed for obvious reasons...it's awesome). The pic is off my phone so sorry for the lack of size.

News Schmoos

Still trying the political stuff... Responding to a news blogger is not my forte. This leads me to think I am not smart. But some people really take this stuff seriously, and if you make a comment they don't like, you become some kind of matyr figure, virtually stoned to death with vicious comments. So while I have looked at many news blogs, cnn, that guy that writes the channel ten blog ( I forget his name, it's late), and some other news folk blogs that have opinions on stories that make them seem nothing less than stuck up, know-it-all pretentious a-holes. Looking around at these, and the comments of peoples responses, I feel inadequete in any response that I think of.
Like I said, politics and news aren't my forte.

Politics

I had a whole lot of trouble trying to use the hansard online; it's probably my laptop being a pain but I'm not sure. I looked up Ros Bates' website instead, and discovered she will be speaking in parliment today on the cognate Education Bills. She also has a heap of petitions and action posts on her site like a good MP. There is also a bit of the site that has all of her speeches. I am yet to find a way to respond to this however. I guess I'll just send an email. She is also on all of the social networking sites so I guess I can respond that way also. Politics is not my forte, nor is it any interest to me. Just putting that out there.

Knee Fail

So back on monday, Day 2 of National Uni Games, game 2, I managed to damage my meniscus (cartilage that supports the joints in your knee) in my left knee. I am now on crutches for an unknown amount of time, with a fat, bruised, and sore knee. I have spent the last 2 days and 1 night at home (after paying $250 for a motel in surfers paradise), feeling terribly sick from the codiene and anti inflammatorys the hospital gave me, a sore throat from one of the girls I have been sharing a room with and sore arm pits from my ever frustrating crutches. But other than that, I have been having a splendid uni break.

Oh, at the opening ceremony at Sea World on sunday night, I saw, among other things, a guy dressed up like the Hitcher from boosh. Awesome. (Yes, I got a photo. Not quite Noel Fielding, but still. Awesome. Oh, Jay and the Doctor from Frenzal Rhomb were there too. Didn't get a pic though. Bummer.)

To Clean Feed, Or Not To Clean Feed

I have been reading up on this 'Clean Feed' business, and found that so far, I am torn about the whole idea. It is a very good thing that the Australian Government are trying to implement ways to protect children from some of the horrors floating around on the internet. This just seems like a very extreme way to do it. And it seems suspiciously on the down low. I can't seem to find any information on things like who will decide which sites are blacklisted. I mean, obviously illegal things will be, but there is the freedom of speech concern. And I'm sure I'm not the only one to come across a funny named site, that doesn't actually have anything to do with it's content. How many of these will be blacklisted accidentally? What about blogs? And is that someones job? To find illegal and inappropriate sites to filter? Like terrorists sites and child pornography? Would that not make someone want to kill themselves? And if this really is a technique to protect kids from laying innocent eyes on something they shouldn't, why is the filter being placed in homes without children? It all seems a little dodge. Plus, I get frustrated with slow internet as is. Apparently, this filter will only make it slower. I see a rise of computer abuse in my future. Not to mention, how much is this going to cost? Surely there is an easy way to do this, without spending millions of tax payers money when it should be spent on better things like the health care system? Those road works in surfers have been going for months now, surely another million dollars would move that along quite nicely. So in conclusion, still torn. It will be interesting to see what happens when it goes ahead though. Another Vegemite 'iSnack 2.0' scenario perhaps?
