The Mighty BOOOOOOOOOSH

Just a snippet of the tv show that I will be using for the who what when where task later on...

Video that takes a decade to upload. This is my contact Kelly, goofing around with two strange girls when she should be doing work in her class.
Optimus Out.
I know I used wikipedia a whole lot for the last task.... BUT I was quite unwell and nearly died trying to find the answers. I apologize. Never again will I resort to wikipedia... so much.

So this week autobot followers, I was quite an unwell robot and couldn't make it to the tutorial. But LUCKILY (or unluckily some might say... if that is even a word. I don't think it is) the tasks were up on the class blogs. So, as I lie here on my death bed, I will lay the tasks out for you.

Basically it says we are required to go on an internet scavenger hunt of sorts - no google. LAME. So I mainly used Yahoo, wikipedia and even Internet Movie Database ( one of my personal favourites).

1. So I couldn't find the current World's Biggest Pumpkin (though I think it should be front page news) but the winner for 2008 was Steve Connolly, who's pumpkin weighed in at 1568 pounds. Nice. (www.bigpumpkins.com. Yes, the site is real. I know.)

2. Given Lily Allen is a myspace queen, you think it would be easy finding a way to contact her. WRONG. I'm thinking upper management, like her record label, but she seems to use Twitter a lot so, give that a try. Why you would want to contact her though is beyond me.3. Thanks to wikipedia, I now know that a giraffe tongue is around 18 inches. With that knowledge, how could I ever fail in life.

4. Glycomics is basically the study of sugar, in all its forms, and the relationship to different organisms. Seagull Management is used to describe a management style of interacting with employees only when a problem arises, making hasty decisions about things they have little understanding of, then leaving others to deal with the mess they leave behind. (Wikipedia)

5. David Cronenbergs first film was Transfer in 1966. The film Videodrome featured Blondie front woman Debbie Harry in 1983. www.imdb.com

6. The Hacker's Manifesto was written Jan 8th 1986. (wikipedia)

7. Why do Hollywood numbers start with 555? I couldn't go past this amazing explanation:
Up until a few years ago, the phone company maintained a service that provided fictional (i.e., unused) numbers to producers and writers. But it soon developed, in this wide, wonderful country of ours, that there wasn't a single number that wasn't in use somewhere. The "555" gambit was created in 1973--no matter where you are, dialing the 555 number plugs you into directory assistance, where a legion of professionally trained operators awaits to answer the particular crankiness of your call. 555 isn't an FCC regulation, but simply a convenient creation of Ma Bell.

8. What is the cheapest way to travel from Goldy to Squid Town? Cheapest would be walking, if this is indeed a trick question. But I would try Jet Star, they usually have pretty good prices.

9. Thanks to yahoo search, I know that The Beatles owned the charts in 65', with Rock and Roll.

10. Stephen Stockwell was in Black Assasins. Believe it or not, I actually knew that already.

So there it is peeps. I'm gonna go take as many drugs as possible and collapse on my pillow, fully dressed. If you see a very sick and tired looking giagantic truck/robot in the lecture tomorrow morning... hey, at least I made it.

Prime Out.

Language Of Screen Definitions

http://www.lubemobile.com.au/Content_Common/pg-Engine-Management-System-Car-Repair.seo?gclid=CO3G0t6snZwCFUwwpAodKmgadg WRONG
http://www.ecu.edu/studentstores/Computers/ WRONG

... Okay so I got all campy robot and just cheated. I had a look at other peoples blogs in this class and found some smarty pants who had the answers already. Thanks Gandolf. Even though someone should tell you.. it's Gandalf. http://gandolfs1stblog.blogspot.com/
(even though I knew this ANYWAY because I have studied film. But who cares.)
So here it is...

An ECU is an extreme close up which has a focus on an certain aspect of a person, either the mouth of eyes. This allows the responder to get an view of the character.

A WS is a wide shot which gives the audience a wide view of a an scene. This is normally used to show a particular area or landscape.

A MS or Medium shot is used to show either posture or physical movement.God Spiderman 3 was terrible. Ruined the whole story. Stick to the comics and cartoons people, Tobey Maguire was a bad choice. Don't get me wrong he is a great actor (best cameo award for Tropic Thunder) but not a good choice for Peter Parker.

Anyway, that's my rant.

History Of Computing Time line
1821: Charles Babbage gets busy with building massive calculators/table maker.
1833: Lovelace Countess Augusta Ada Byron meets Babbage and they get busy... programming.
1950: Alan Turing writes a paper introducing Turing Test; test of a machine's ability to demonstrate intelligence.
1951: UNIVAC (Universal Automatic Computer) is created.

Charles Babbage

1964: IBM 360 introduced.
1965: Gordon Moore predicts that the number of components in an IC will double every year. This is known as Moore's Law (That rhymes. Unintentional.)
1969: Xerox creates its Palo Alto Research Center - Xerox PARC.
1971: Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak begin building and selling "blue boxes".
1975: Paul Allen and Bill Gates develop BASIC for the Altair 8800. Hello Microsoft.
1977: Apple is selling its Apple II for $1,195.
1979: Software Arts develops the first spreadsheet program, Visicalc, releases it and watches it become an instant success.
1981: The IBM PC is released with BASIC.
1984: The Apple Macintosh is released.
.

Steve Jobs demos Apple Macintosh in 1984

Internet Time Line
1962: Paul Baran of RAND develops the idea of distributed, packet-switching networks.
1973: Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf develop the basic ideas of the Internet.
1979: A UUCP link between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University establishes USENET. The first MUD is also developed.
1982: TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol) is established.
1991: Tim Berners-Lee develops the World Wide Web. CERN releases the first Web server.
1992: the number of hosts breaks 1,000,000.

Then we have beautiful things like email, instant messaging, file transfer protocol, online gaming and social networking created. Thank god I am a robot living on modern earth. How would I catch up with all my autobot mates without Facebook and MSN?

Amazing Convergence Technologies... the violin robot is a distant cousin. Through marriage.

The iPhone is an Internet-connected ,multimedia GSM smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. Because its minimal hardware interface lacks a physical keyboard, the multi-touch screen renders a virtual keyboard when necessary. The iPhone functions as a camera phone (also including text messaging and visual voicemail), a portable media player (equivalent to a video iPod), and an Internet client (with email, web browsing, and Wi-Fi connectivity).

Convergence

Convergence is two or more technologies that have been created joining (or 'converging', even) together to create one piece of technology that can utilize both original uses. For example, I have a phone (not that I need it, being a robot) that can use the internet, as well as do all the things a mobile phone could originally do. This is helpful as for some reason, some people leave me facebook posts instead of picking up a phone or texting me. Like a check my facebook page ever two seconds. Except now I do because of these people. Damn!
