So this week autobot followers, I was quite an unwell robot and couldn't make it to the tutorial. But LUCKILY (or unluckily some might say... if that is even a word. I don't think it is) the tasks were up on the class blogs. So, as I lie here on my death bed, I will lay the tasks out for you.

Basically it says we are required to go on an internet scavenger hunt of sorts - no google. LAME. So I mainly used Yahoo, wikipedia and even Internet Movie Database ( one of my personal favourites).

1. So I couldn't find the current World's Biggest Pumpkin (though I think it should be front page news) but the winner for 2008 was Steve Connolly, who's pumpkin weighed in at 1568 pounds. Nice. (www.bigpumpkins.com. Yes, the site is real. I know.)

2. Given Lily Allen is a myspace queen, you think it would be easy finding a way to contact her. WRONG. I'm thinking upper management, like her record label, but she seems to use Twitter a lot so, give that a try. Why you would want to contact her though is beyond me.3. Thanks to wikipedia, I now know that a giraffe tongue is around 18 inches. With that knowledge, how could I ever fail in life.

4. Glycomics is basically the study of sugar, in all its forms, and the relationship to different organisms. Seagull Management is used to describe a management style of interacting with employees only when a problem arises, making hasty decisions about things they have little understanding of, then leaving others to deal with the mess they leave behind. (Wikipedia)

5. David Cronenbergs first film was Transfer in 1966. The film Videodrome featured Blondie front woman Debbie Harry in 1983. www.imdb.com

6. The Hacker's Manifesto was written Jan 8th 1986. (wikipedia)

7. Why do Hollywood numbers start with 555? I couldn't go past this amazing explanation:
Up until a few years ago, the phone company maintained a service that provided fictional (i.e., unused) numbers to producers and writers. But it soon developed, in this wide, wonderful country of ours, that there wasn't a single number that wasn't in use somewhere. The "555" gambit was created in 1973--no matter where you are, dialing the 555 number plugs you into directory assistance, where a legion of professionally trained operators awaits to answer the particular crankiness of your call. 555 isn't an FCC regulation, but simply a convenient creation of Ma Bell.

8. What is the cheapest way to travel from Goldy to Squid Town? Cheapest would be walking, if this is indeed a trick question. But I would try Jet Star, they usually have pretty good prices.

9. Thanks to yahoo search, I know that The Beatles owned the charts in 65', with Rock and Roll.

10. Stephen Stockwell was in Black Assasins. Believe it or not, I actually knew that already.

So there it is peeps. I'm gonna go take as many drugs as possible and collapse on my pillow, fully dressed. If you see a very sick and tired looking giagantic truck/robot in the lecture tomorrow morning... hey, at least I made it.

Prime Out.
